Tara Miller has been with SAAMS since February of 2018. Tara joined ASLC as a Manager in the Grants department and quickly found a niche in grant work and spreadsheets.  Her love of puzzles and problem solving have helped to evolve the Grants department.  She is the guru for all things Grants and helps to provide accurate forecasts for ASLC financials. In November of 2022 Tara joined the ASLC Senior Management Team and in August 2023 stepped into the position of Director of Finance. 

Tara is a (mostly) lifelong Alaskan and a graduate of the University of Alaska Southeast with a bachelor’s degree in Multidisciplinary studies with a primary focus in Psychology and a minor in Anthropology. In her previous career she was in procurement for an industrial shipyard, where she was the primary buyer for several marine repair and fabrication projects including the Alaska Marine Highway System.  

Tara grew up in Ketchikan and often states that she belongs in Alaska.  She migrated to Seward in 2016 where she fell in love (both with the community and a person), bought a home, and acquired far too many dogs.  She currently resides in Moose Pass and is working towards cultivating her property into the perfect retirement garden.
